The State Municipal Transport Financing Act (LGVFG) provides funding for projects in the areas of local public transport, cycling and walking, road construction, noise protection measures, air pollution control and the reconnection of habitats as well as the construction of freight transport interfaces.

The aim is to improve transport conditions in the municipalities in the interests of sustainable and climate-friendly mobility.

Funding recipients: Municipalities, rural districts, municipal associations

Amount and scope of funding:

• up to 50 per cent of the eligible investment costs.
• For the following projects, increased funding of up to 75 per cent of the eligible investment costs can be granted:
  • Crossing measures in accordance with the Railway Crossing Act
  • Projects for the construction of charging infrastructure
  • Projects that make a particularly positive contribution to climate protection
• Which costs are eligible for funding is regulated in the administrative regulation for the LGVFG; a planning cost allowance is granted for planning costs related to the project.
• The lump sum for planning costs amounts to 20 per cent of the eligible investment costs. The funding rate applied to this lump sum corresponds to the funding rate for the investment costs.
• Subsequent authorisation is possible in the event of significant cost increases in cases of hardship.
